Details, Details, Details and a Cool Sake Bar

So as promised, here are truly just a few of the amazing details from Lee & Yutaka’s wedding.  I was going to combine the details with the events of the reception but after posting all of these decided I’d do a Part III tomorrow.  I know it means waiting to see everyone doing shots at the sake bar, dancing, etc. but trust me, it’s worth it!  In the meantime, enjoy all the beautiful details and food.

And if you’re curious about all the fantastic people who made their wedding spectacular, here’s the list:

“Tennis brought them together and love will carry them for a lifetime.” - Me

I don’t even know where to begin when describing this amazing, caring couple.  From the moment we met them they were energetic, fun and warm.  Ford & I have enjoyed every moment with them and walked away from their wedding feeling as if we had just documented memories not just for wonderful clients but for friends.

They had friends and family travel from all over the globe for their beautiful, intimate wedding at the Sarasota Ritz Beach Club.   And the details are amazing.  She and Nicole Kaney planned everything perfectly and left no detail forgotten.  In fact, there are so many fantastic details that you’ll have to stop by tomorrow to see all of them.  I did add a few now but if you want to see the majority of them, which trust me you do, then stop by tomorrow for Part II.

The very adorable flower girl, Samantha enjoyed a little TV before hair and make-up.

First look was perfect.  In fact, Yutaka actually took a peek he was so anxious to see Lee.

He couldn’t stop smiling all day.

Yutaka’s two nephews visiting from Tokyo.

    The beautiful flower girls.

So tomorrow is details, details, details plus here’s a sneak peak of the rest of the day’s events…………..

Enjoy and I look forward to sharing so much more tomorrow!!

Inspiration for our New Site & Brand

Two films, both out for several years, are visually beautiful and inspiring to me.   Pride & Prejudice, besides being one of my favorite films ever, has such gorgeous light.  It is inspiring to see how the director Joe Wright and the DP Roman Osin, captured the soft, warm glow of light. I can watch the movie over and over and be moved to see the light more; to capture the light from different angles to create different moods.  It’s something that as photographers we know and have learned but I think it’s something we constantly grow with and study.

The other film that has inspired me and caused me to grow as an artist is Marie Antoinette by Sophia Coppola is a fantastic director and as an artist I love how she captures mood and emotion.

I think as artist our styles and inspirations are growing and changing.  This is what moves me at the moment…..refined soft & muted color, soft pure light that seems to gently kiss the check and modern too.

    Sexy is Back!

Nicole and Dustin hit the streets of Ybor City with us this past weekend.  We had so much fun with them again this year.  We laughed, they posed, we laughed some more and somehow they managed to squeeze in some kisses.  We had so many to choose from but we like the way these images tell a story.  Now the question is, what do you think the story is?

Competition in This Match Equals LOVE

We did a fun session this weekend with Lee & Yutaka.  They are so warm and sweet.  Not to mention they were game for pretty much anything.   We had such a great time with them and we can’t wait for their amazing and very unique wedding coming up.   Lee & Yutaka are serious about tennis

The question is, whose the tougher competitor?
    she's a tough competitor

Ford + Shannon = Gondola Ride by the Fabulous Alison McIntyre

We met Alison, Rochelle’s cousin, in Venice, Italy and had a great time chatting with her.  She loves photography, so of course many times, while heading to the rehearsal dinner, we were side by side, photographing another great building or details on a wall.

Well it’s funny because we get so focused at times that we never know when guests are snapping pictures of us.  Actually she was getting Rochelle & Massimo on the gondola but did a great job of getting us in action.  And I have to say, I love this shot because it shows all the excitement around them but they’re so obviously lost in each other; so unaware of us or everyone on the bridge.

So bravo Alison for a great shot!  And thanks for sharing it with us!!

Inspired by My Fun & Graceful Bride

It’s hard running a business sometimes, especially a photography business.  It seems like we get so busy.  Always meeting new clients, getting to know them, editing images and album designs.  There’s almost a bittersweet joy when we deliver the final product to them.  You know they’re excited but you know it’s time to move on to new clients.  But every now and then a bride comes along who unknowingly impacts you and reminds you to laugh more often.

    As we prepare to release our new brand, which showcases our style more, I was looking through our archives.  Jin was one of our brides from 2007.  She was married in Providence, RI and literally glowed all day.  Jin & Matt couldn’t stop smiling and they truly had fun in front of the camera. {  Something I admire since I get shy in front of one. }

Seeing her pictures again reminded me how much she seems to be one of those rare people who is constantly smiling and loving life.  I know she has an amazing story to tell of her father, Wenli Xu .  And she definitely has been an amazing young woman in her fight for human rights, but that’s a different story.  Here she’s just a beautiful, happy bride who is loving life and enjoying letting the camera capture it.  To me I see grace and peace in her eyes and I’m so glad I was able to freeze that moment.  She has inspired me to get in front of the camera more and let my love for life show through.  After all, we never know when we might inspire someone else.  Thanks Jin for being you in front of the camera and allowing me the priviledge of capturing it!
